(AFX) - Important years in The Hoover Co.'s history:

1907 -- A janitor, Murray Spangler, makes a 'suction sweeper' to pull up dirt and dust.

1908 -- Spangler forms a business with W.H. 'Boss' Hoover.

1943 -- The company's stock goes public.

1985 -- Chicago Pacific Corp. acquires Hoover.

1989 -- Maytag Corp. acquires Chicago Pacific.

2006 -- Whirlpool Corp. acquires Maytag and announces plans to sell Hoover.

2007 -- Dirt Devil maker Techtronic Industries Co. buys Hoover from Whirlpool for $107 million and announces plans to move Hoover's 100-year-old headquarters from North Canton, Ohio, to Glenwillow, near Cleveland.
