Hong Kong Dec retail sales value up 11.5 pct yr-on-yr; volume up 8.1 pct

HONG KONG (XFN-ASIA) - Retail sales in December rose 11.5 pct year-on-year

in value terms to 21.5 bln hkd, and were up 8.1 pct by volume, the government

said.

third-quarter operating profit rose 5 pct from a year earlier to its best level

in 16 years, helped by strong sales of its flat televisions.

BIEL, Switzerland (AFX) - Swiss watch exports rose in December by 3.9 pct

from a year earlier to 1.17 bln sfr, the Federation of the Swiss watch industry

said.

Dutch Jan supermarket sales up 0.3 pct yr-on-yr

AMSTERDAM (AFX) - Dutch supermarket sales rose 0.3 pct in January from a

year ago to 1.994 bln eur, according to figures from market researcher GfK.
