Swisscom sole applicant for basic telephone, internet service mandate |

ZURICH (AFX) - Swisscom AG is the only telecoms group to apply to the Federal Communications Commission (ComCom) for a licence to provide telephone network and broadband internet access and other basic services when the mandate expires at the end of 2007.The group's competitor, TDC A/S unit Sunrise, said that it will not apply for a licence in Switzerland.Earlier today, Swisscom announced that it had handed in an application for a renewal of its current licence.afx.zurich@afxnews.comjmt/lamCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
