Harris gets $16M Navy contract |

SAN DIEGO (AFX) - Radio equipment maker Harris Corp. on Thursday said it has been awarded a contract for nearly $16 million by the U.S. Navy for radios supporting personnel operating in Southwest Asia.The Harris radio communications suite will be installed in the Joint Explosive Ordnance Disposal Rapid Response Vehicles that provide Navy units with improved protection against improvised explosive devices.The pact follows multiple Navy orders for Falcon III multi-band handheld radios being used for a variety of missions, according to the company.Shares of Melbourne, Fla.-based Harris dipped 15 cents to $50.67 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
