WASHINGTON (AFX) - Wachovia Corp. won federal approval to open a bank branch in Florida, the Treasury Department's Office of the Comptroller of the Currency said.The OCC said in a weekly bulletin of regulatory activity, which was released Tuesday, that Wachovia's request to open a new branch in Pensacola, Fla. was approved Jan. 26.The agency also said it received requests from Wachovia to open two additional branches, one in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and the other in Austin, Texas.Shares of Wachovia dropped 9 cents to $56.41 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
