WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. Navy on Wednesday said it awarded a $31.9 million contract boost to a unit of Raytheon Co. for a sensor system to improve battle forces' anti-air warfare capability.The Navy's Cooperative Engagement Capability program helps to improve battle force effectiveness by improving situational awareness and enabling longer-range multiple engagement strategies, the Navy said.Raytheon's Network Centric Systems will perform the work in Largo, Fla., St. Petersburg, Fla., Dallas, and McKinney, Texas, through March 2009.Shares of Raytheon gained 53 cents to close at $53.55 on the New York Stock Exchange.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
