National Express FY underlying profits up 15 pct, sees growth on coaches, trains |

LONDON (AFX) - National Express Group PLC said passenger growth of more than 4 pct in its coach business and 6 pct on its trains had helped it notch up a 15 pct rise in pretax profits excluding exceptionals and goodwill to 156.1 mln stg.National Express said it had seen double digit increases in passenger numbers on some of its coach routes such as Bristol and Stansted to London.Its trains business boosted passengers by 6.1 pct, an increase which it said was driven by investment in services, good operational performance and strong growth in services to airports such as the Stansted and Gatwick Express.Pretax profit for the year to Dec 31 increased by 17 pct to 104.1 mln stg on a 14 pct rise in revenues to 2.5 bln stg.
