IRVINE, Calif. (AP) - IntraLase Corp., which makes eye surgery lasers, said Thursday its fourth-quarter profit surged on sales of its IntraLase FS laser and a big tax benefit.The company earned $12.5 million, or 40 cents per share compared with a profit of $3.8 million, or 12 cents per share, during the same period a year prior. Revenue jumped 37 percent to $37.4 million from $27.4 million.Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expected a profit of 26 cents per share on revenue of $37.1 million.IntraLase said a one-time tax benefit of $11.1 million from the release of the company's deferred tax valuation allowance helped lift net income. During the quarter, the company either sold or leased 56 FS lasers, setting a quarter record.For the full year, the company earned $24.3 million, or 78 cents per share, compared with a profit of $9.5 million, or 31 cents per share, in 2005.
