Merck sees approval earlier than expected for Erbitux in Japan |

DARMSTADT, Germany (AFX) - Merck KGaA said it expects to receive approval earlier than expected for use of its cancer drug Erbitux in Japan.Merck's chief financial officer Michael Becker said in an analyst telephone conference that the company is in the process of building up an infrastructure in Japan.In February, the company's Merck Serono division said an application had been submitted by Merck Ltd Japan and ImClone Systems Inc to the Japanese Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency for the use of Erbitux in treating patients with advanced colorectal cancer.krysia.diver@afxnews.comkd/cmlCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
