TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Nikon Corp is expected to post a record group operating profit of 92 bln yen for the fiscal year ending March, 38 pct more than a year earlier, because of the strength of its sales of single-lens reflex (SLR) digital cameras, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported. The newspaper, without identifying any sources, said the value of the company's sales of SLR digital cameras was likely to rise to around 805 bln yen in this fiscal year, 10 pct more than a year before and about 8 bln yen more than the company had forecast.By rolling out several models, Nikon is expected to see its sales of SLR digital cameras overshoot its target of 2 mln cameras in this fiscal year, 49 pct more than the year before. The company's net profit is projected to rise by 73 pct to around 50 bln yen, beating its estimate of 5 bln yen, the Nikkei said.(1 usd = 120.72 yen)yasuhiko.seki@xfn.com
