China Feb manufacturing PMI 53.1 vs 55.1 in Jan - CFLP |

BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - The purchasing manager's index (PMI) for the manufacturing sector dropped to 53.1 points in Feburary from 55.1 in January, the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) said.A reading above 50 indicates growth in purchasing while a reading below 50 represents a contraction.In a statement on its website, it said the production index was 56.6 in Feburary, down 3.7 points from January.The new orders index rose to 57.1 in Feburary, against 59.6 a month earlier.The export orders index was at 51.6 in Feburary, down from 55.2 in the previous month.The inventory of finished goods index was at 44 against 45.5 in January.The input price index rose by 0.5 point to 55.9, reflecting an uptrend in resource prices, the statement said.China first reported PMI data in June 2005.
