FRANKFURT (AFX) - Celesio AG is mulling launching a chain of pharmacies in Germany should the government abolish its ban on companies operating drug stores, reported Sueddeutsche Zeitung in an interview with the company's chief executive Fritz Oesterle.'We are prepared for an opening in the market,' Oesterle told the newspaper.Celesio already operates chains of pharmacies in the UK, Norway, Italy and the Netherlands.Dutch internet company DocMorris, which opened a pharmacy in Saarland in Germany in 2006, is allowed to operate until the court comes to a decision on its license.Celesio is also looking to expand in countries such as Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria and Romania, the newspaper added, citing Oesterle.krysia.diver@afxnews.comkd/jmsCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
