Premier Oil-Mitsui jv, Total among winners of Indonesia's oil and gas blocks

JAKARTA (XFN-ASIA) - A joint venture between Premier Oil and Mitsui, a consortium led by Total and an ExxonMobil unit are among winners of nine oil and gas blocks offered via tender, an Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry official said.

Director-General of Oil and Gas at the ministry Luluk Sumiarso said the Premier Oil-Mitsui joint venture was awarded the oil-and-gas block in the Natuna Sea and the Total E&P-Japan's Inpex Corp consortium was awarded the Southeast Mahakam block, offshore of East Kalimantan.

Esso Exploration International, a unit of ExxonMobil unit, got the Mandar block, offshore of West Sulawesi.

Sumiarso said the joint venture between Indonesia's state-owned company PT Pertamina and Norway's Statoil ASA was awarded the Karama block, offshore of West Sulawesi and Talisman (South Makasasar) Ltd won the Sageri block, offshore of South Sulawesi.

PT Tiara Bumi Petroleum was awarded the West Air Komering block, located onshore in South Sumatra and PT ANP Energy got the Lampung 1 block, offshore of Lampung, Sumatra island.

PT Sigma Energy Petrogas got the Enrekang block ,onshore in South Sulawesi, while Malaysia's M3nergy won the Ujung Kulon block, onshore and offshore of Banten in West Java.

Sumiarso said the companies have committed to invest up to 411.07 mln usd in the first three years for exploration purposes.

He added that the government received a 'signature bonus' worth 30 mln usd from the bidding process.
