BoJ Tankan - FY07 parent current profits seen up 1.6 pct

TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - The combined current profit of parent firms across all industries is seen rising 1.6 pct in the year to March 2008, according to the Bank of Japan's Tankan quarterly survey.

The BoJ issued the following current profit growth forecasts for the new fiscal year to March 2008:

All industries - up 1.6 pct

All manufacturers - up 1.1 pct

All non-manufacturers - up 2.1 pct

Big firms - down 0.6 pct

Big manufacturers - unchanged

Big non-manufacturers - down 1.3 pct

Mid-sized firms - up 5.6 pct

Mid-sized manufacturers - up 0.9 pct

Mid-sized non-manufacturers - up 8.8 pct

Small-sized firms - up 7.4 pct

Small manufacturers - up 8.8 pct

Small non-manufacturers - up 6.7 pct

The BoJ also issued the following projections for net profit growth for the fiscal year to March 2008:

All industries - up 6.2 pct

All manufacturers - up 4.1 pct

All non-manufacturers - up 8.2 pct

Big firms - up 3.1 pct

Big manufacturers - up 2.6 pct

Big non-manufacturers - up 3.8 pct

Mid-sized firms - up 11.4 pct

Mid-sized manufacturers - up 4.9 pct

Mid-sized non-manufacturers - up 15.9 pct

Small-sized firms - up 15.4 pct

Small manufacturers - up 14.3 pct

Small non-manufacturers - up 15.9 pct

The BoJ gave the following revenue growth estimates for the fiscal year to March 2008:

All industries - up 1.6 pct

All manufacturers - up 1.7 pct

All non-manufacturers - up 1.6 pct

Big firms - up 1.6 pct

Big manufacturers - up 1.5 pct

Big non-manufacturers - up 1.6 pct

Mid-sized firms - up 3.0 pct

Mid-sized manufacturers - up 2.1 pct

Mid-sized non-manufacturers - up 3.3 pct

Small-sized firms - up 0.6 pct

Small manufacturers - up 1.9 pct

Small non-manufacturers - up 0.3 pct
