WOLFSBURG, Germany (Thomson Financial) - Volkswagen AG said its Volkswagen brand group division swung to an operating profit of 386 mln eur in the first quarter from a loss of 49 mln the previous year as more cars were sold while restructuring measures undertaken last year bore fruit.It said the 435 mln eur gain in the operating profit was also partly due to the continuation of performance enhancement measures.Sales in the Volkswagen brand group rose 5.2 pct to 18.010 bln eur while in the Audi brand group, they were at 8.679 bln from 7.673 bln.The Audi brand group division operating profit was at 401 mln eur, up from 345 mln.VW previously released key group figures on April 18.marilyn.gerlach@thomson.commog/sljCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
