LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Money needed for anti-terror measures will be assessed further as part of this year's spending review, said Home Secretary Jacqui Smith.In her first statement to parliament since her promotion to the Cabinet last week, Smith gave MPs an overview of the police investigation into the three failed terror attacks in London and Glasgow over the last three days.She told the House that expenditure on counter terrorism had doubled since September 2001.'Work as part of the current Comprehensive Spending review will further assess the expenditure necessary,' she said.By 2008, annual spending on counter-terrorism is expected to reach 2.25 bln stg, which is double what it was prior to the Sept 11 terror attacks in New York and Washington.TFN.newsdesk@thomson.comfp/rfwCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
