According to a report by Pregnancy & Birth magazine, raising a child is not an easy task as it takes on an average £52,605 from birth until he or she attains the age of five.
The report says the cost actually starts before the child is born with antenatal classes and grows along with the child that includes feeding, clothing, school expenses… Feeding the baby itself costs on average £610 a year, the report says.
| But the report failed to mention the hidden cost such as buying a bigger house, taking time off from work, medicine...
The report says all these costs are dwarfed when it comes to finding childcare, which goes into thousands of pounds a year that includes nurseries, nannies...
Before birth, the baby can really hit the expenses with parents buying nappies, infant car seats, buggies and baby monitors.
Last year, the average weekly cost of childcare was put at £73.71 by the Daycare Trust.
