BEIJING (Thomson Financial) - Microsoft Corp has cut by more than half the price of its Windows Vista operating system in China as the group seeks to attract buyers away from illegal copies of the software, the Wall Street Journal reported.The newspaper said Microsoft cut the retail price for its basic version of the software by two-thirds to 499 yuan and the premium package by half to 899 yuan.The Wall Street Journal said a study by research firm International Data Corp estimated that 82 pct of software used in China in 2006 was pirated.tf.TFN-Europe_newsdesk@thomson.comwjCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
