COPENHAGEN (AFX) - Novo Nordisk said a new study confirms that its diabetes treatment Levemir limits weight gain in patients.The study, named PREDICTIVE, examined the outcome of treatment with Levemir in a total of 20,531 people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes in 11 countries, and indicated that Levemir decreased average body weight as well as improved blood glucose levels, Novo Nordisk said.'Insulin initiation is often associated with considerable weight gain,' Professor Russell-Jones of the Royal Surrey County Hospital, UK said, according to Novo Nordisk.'The reduced risk of weight gain that Levemir offers potentially provides people with diabetes an enhanced treatment option,' he added.newsdesk@afxnews.comgs/vs/ambCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
