Smith & Nephew unveils margin improvement plan; CEO to retire

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Smith & Nephew PLC, the world's fourth biggest

maker of replacement hips and knees, unveiled plans to improve profit margins by

400 basis points over the next four years, which will add 150 mln usd to profits

Smith & Nephew to grow margins by 1 pct each year; Q1 adjusted EPS up 18 pct

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Smith & Nephew PLC announced plans for a new

chief executive alongside largely in-line first quarter results in which the

orthopaedics group laid out plans to grow profit margins by at least 1 pct a

year in the next four years.
