Lion Air makes $1.7B Boeing plane order |

SEATTLE (AP) - Boeing Co. said Tuesday that Lion Air placed an order for 22 planes worth more than $1.7 billion during the second quarter.The Jakarta, Indonesia-based airline placed the order for Boeing's Next-Generation 737-900ER, or extended range, airplanes. It brings Lion Air's combined orders for the 737-900ER up to 122. Lion Air's airplanes will be equipped with blended winglets, which improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon-dioxide emissions by up to 4 percent, Boeing said.The order had been listed in the unidentified category on Boeing's orders and deliveries Web site.
