Merck's Erbitux cancer drug meets primary target in first-line phase III study

FRANKFURT (AFX) - Merck KGgaA said its cancer drug Erbitux combined with platinum-based chemotherapy has met a primary endpoint in a first-line phase III head and neck cancer study.

The primary endpoint, or objective, was to increase overall survival in patients with recurrent and or metastatic head and neck cancers, said the company in a statement.
