Finmeccanica confident on US military plane order, helicopter order difficult |

MILAN (AFX) - Finmeccanica SpA chairman and CEO Pierfrancesco Guarguaglini said he is confident of winning a major US order for military transport aircraft while a US military helicopter order will be difficult to win.Speaking in the margins of an event in Rome, he said a decision on Finmeccanica unit Alenia Aeronautica's proposal of 145 C27J aircraft in the 5-6 bln usd order is expected for May 9.'You never know, but I am confident,' he said on the aircraft tender.On a US order for 141 helicopters for the US military, worth more than 10 bln usd, he said: 'It will be hard. We will see.'Last Friday, the US Air Force said it will revise and reopen bidding for the helicopter contract after a recommendation from the US's Government Accountability Office and complaints from bidders.Boeing won the order.
