MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Piaggio SpA's board Friday will consider the launch of activities in Vietnam with its Vespa brand, said managing director Daniele Bandiera.Analysts see Piaggio's international expansion as a key factor for the stock and have been waiting for the timing of the Vietnam launch.'The agenda of the board meeting includes the analysis and approval of the start of activities in Vietnam, the setting up of a plant to produce Vespa scooters in Vietnam,' said a company spokesman. It would take two years before the plant would start producing scooters, he added.Bandiera said any expansion in Brazil is linked to Piaggio's plan to launch a hybrid petrol-electric scooter in the second half of next year.Friday's board will also discuss Piaggio's first half results, which the company president Roberto Colaninno said will give 'great satisfaction'.The Piaggio officials were speaking at the launch of the Gilera brand GP800 high-power scooter.nigel.tutt@thomson.comysc/jlcCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
