SAN FRANCISCO (Thomson Financial) - General Dynamics Corp. said Monday the U.S. Navy has awarded the company's Electric Boat subsidiary a $148 million contract modification to continue Virginia-class submarine lead-yard services and engineering.The contract was initially awarded in October 2005 and will be worth $890million if all options are exercised and funded, the Falls Church, Va.-based defense firm said. The contract runs through September 2009.Under the contract, Electric Boat will support design drawings and data for each Virginia-class submarine and provide engineering services, among other duties, the company said.General Dynamics shares were up $1.65, or about 1.83%, at $91.78.Katherine Huntkh/vjCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
