FRANKFURT (AFX) - Merck KGaA's Merck Serono division said an application has been submitted by Merck Ltd Japan and ImClone Systems Inc to the Japanese Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency for the use of Erbitux in treating patients with advanced colorectal cancer.Colorectal cancer is now the third biggest cancer threat in Japan -- taking the lives of more than 38,000 people annually -- following lung and stomach cancer, said a company statement.krysia.diver@afxnews.comkd/gpCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
