Atlas Copco buys Sweden's Dynapac for 6.3 bln skr |

STOCKHOLM (AFX) - Atlas Copco AB said it has bought Swedish road construction and paving equipment supplier Dynapac AB from Altor 2003 Fund for 6.3 bln skr, of which 2.1 bln skr is assumed debt.Atlas Copco said the acquisition will, 'Strengthen its position in an expanding global market and add a new range of products for construction customers worldwide'.Dynapac, is headquartered in Malmoe, has annual sales of around 4.6 bln skr and 2,100 employees. The company's estimated operating margin in 2006 was 11.3 pct. It has production sites in six countries and sales in over 115 countries.Sales to the road construction sector currently represent about 22 pct of Atlas Copco's sales.'The acquisition will give Atlas Copco additional products and sales channels to grow in the expanding road construction market, as new roads are constructed in many countries, such as China and India,' the company said.Atlas Copco said the global road construction market is currently worth around 30 bln skr with an expected growth of 4-5 pct a year.Dynapac will become part of Atlas Copco's Construction and Mining Technique business area.simon.richardson@thomson.comsjr/jfrCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
