Wyeth inks deal with Nautilus Biotech |

MADISON, N.J. (AFX) - Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, a division of drug developer Wyeth, said Monday it partnered with France's Nautilus Biotech to develop a hemophilia B treatment.Specifically, the research and and license agreement aims at developing recombinant Factor IX proteins to treat the hereditary blood disorder. Hemophilia B affects about 130,000 people worldwide.Nautilus will use its technology, which makes changes in amino acids sequences, in order to slow the breakdown of the protein and improve the duration of the drug. Wyeth will develop and sell treatments stemming from the collaboration.Nautilus will receive an upfront payment, research and development fees, milestone payments and royalty payments. Financial details were not disclosed.Also Monday, Belgium specialty pharmaceutical company Elbion NV said it is collaborating with Wyeth to develop a schizophrenia treatment.
