FedEx offers new truck service in Canada |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AFX) - FedEx Corp. announced Monday it is offering a less-than-truckload shipping service in Canada through the newly formed FedEx Freight Canada.The package shipper and owner of the world's largest cargo airline also noted the official beginning of FedEx National LTL, a long-haul service for customers with less-than-truckload shipments.The new services, part of the company's FedEx Freight division, were created through the acquisition last year of the former Watkins Motor Lines and Watkins Canada Express.'We have hired close to 9,000 employees, re-branded equipment and integrated Web sites to allow customers to quickly and seamlessly navigate between our regional and long-haul services,' said Douglas G. Duncan, president and chief executive of FedEx Freight.FedEx Corp., the owner of the FedEx Express cargo airline, has annual revenue of $34 billion. FedEx Freight had annual revenues of $3.6 billion in fiscal year 2006.Shares of FedEx were down 70 cents to $114.28 at midday on the New York Stock Exchange .Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
