BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - Nasdaq-listed Linktone is seeking to reduce its reliance on China Mobile after the carrier moved to restrict activity by outside providers and started to promote its own services, the South China Morning Post reported, citing Edward Liu, a Linktone investor relations official.Linktone, which gets 95 pct of its revenue from wireless services, depends on China Mobile for 70 pct of its revenue, the Hong Kong newspaper reported.'We are developing cross media advertising services to diversify our business. We want to decrease our dependency on wireless services and China Mobile,' Liu said, adding that the firm wanted to expand into the advertising business.Rules issued last year by China Mobile required all service providers attached to the mobile operator to remind their subscribers in August and September that their subscriptions were active, with new clients allowed a one month free trial. The rules led to significantly lower revenue and profit for wireless value-added service providers.andrew.pasek@xinhuafinance.com
