MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Prysmian SpA, the Italian cable manufacturer, is interested in expanding in South America, Middle East and Russia, CEO Valerio Battista said in an interview with the daily MF.He added that the group aims to consolidate its presence in Europe and the US and grow in regions offering high profitability.Battista noted that the group will complete the acquisition of India's Nicco Corporation in the first quarter of 2008 and intends to reorganise its Chinese business this year by creating a holding company to oversee its operations in the country.The group has the wholly-owned unit Angel and three joint ventures in China, where it has annual sales of over 150 mln eur.Prysmian aims to expand through organic growth and small acquisitions, Battista added.philip.webster@thomson.compw/sljCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
