OSLO (AFX) - Statoil ASA said it has signed two letters of intent with the Danish shipping company, Esvagt AS, for the delivery of two emergency response vessels, worth a combined 900 mln nkr.The ships, both new-builds, will enter service as area emergency response vessels in the North Sea, Statoil said.One of the new vessels will operate in the Sleipner/Volve area, replacing the current vessel, while the other will operate in the Gjoa area.The Esvagt shipping company, 75 pct-owned by the AP Moller-Maersk Group, will deliver the vessels in the spring of 2009.The contracts have an eight-year duration, with three one-year options.alastair.reed@thomson.comar/ambCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
