BAKU, Azerbaijan (AFX) - Azerbaijan's state airline signed a deal on Tuesday with Boeing Co. worth US$401 million (euro310 million), the company said.Under the deal AZAL will buy two Boeing 737-900s and three Boeing-787s for delivery in 2010 and 2008 respectively, AZAL spokesman Maharram Safarli said.Ahead of the signing Scott Carson, the chief executive officer of Boeing's commercial jet-building division, held talks Monday with the Azerbaijani president at which Ilham Aliev stressed Azerbaijan's need for new aircraft as a means to realize its full economic potential, the state news agency Azertec reported.A booming oil and gas industry have made this former Soviet Caspian Sea nation's economy one of the fastest-growing in the world.
