AtriCure gets FDA OK for ablation device |

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AFX) - Medical device maker AtriCure Inc. said Tuesday that the Food and Drug Administration granted marketing clearance to its Isolator Synergy bipolar ablation system.The Isolator is cleared for the ablation, or scarring, of soft tissue. The system uses a pair of electrodes to destroy diseased tissue during surgical procedures. AtriCure said the device is not cleared for use on heart tissue.AtriCure expects to launch the device during the third quarter.Shares of Atricure were unchanged at $11.94 in morning trading on the Nasdaq.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
