CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - Drug maker Pozen Inc. said Tuesday a study of its 'Safer Aspirin' PA325 drug, which is a patented form of aspirin surrounded by a coating of an immediate-release proton pump inhibitor, demonstrated positive results.The proof-of-concept study showed patients who took a generically coated aspirin were more likely to have gastrointestinal damage than those who took Pozen's aspirin.John R Plachetka, chairman, president and chief executive, said data from the study, the first clinical trial with the drug, is have ry encouraging.'Shares rose 97 cents, or 7 percent, to $15.21 in morning trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
