Ariad cancer study to be delayed |

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - Drug developer Ariad Pharmaceuticals Inc. said its study on a metastatic sarcoma treatment will likely be delayed, based on feedback from the Food and Drug Administration.The Phase III clinical trial for AP23573, aimed at treating cancer that spreads into other tissues, will follow the structure the company initially set up, but enrollment will take place in the third quarter instead of the second quarter.Overall survival rates will be the primary focus of the study with progression-free survival as a secondary endpoint.Shares of Ariad rose 3 cents to $4.97 in after-hours trading after gaining 39 cents, or 8.6 percent, to close at $4.94 on the Nasdaq Stock Market.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
