MEMPHIS (AP) - Pinnacle Airlines Inc., operating as Northwest Airlink, said Friday its passenger traffic in March rose 8.5 percent, as capacity increased and occupancy fell.The airline's monthly traffic increased to 386.8 million revenue passenger miles from 356.5 million revenue passenger miles during the same period a year ago. A revenue passenger mile is equal to one paying passenger flown one mile.Capacity gained 9.2 percent to 508.3 available seat miles from 465.3 million available seat miles last year. Load factor, or occupancy, fell to 76.1 percent from 76.6 percent.Year-to-date, the airline's traffic is up 3.6 percent to 1.01 billion revenue passenger miles, while capacity is ahead 6.8 percent at 1.43 billion available seat miles and load factor is down to 70.3 percent from 72.4 percent.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
