VANCOUVER (XFN-ASIA) - Indian airline Kingfisher is finalizing a new aircraft order with European manufacturer Airbus, likely for jumbo A340-600s, to be announced at this month's Paris Air Show, Airline Business Daily reported.'There will be another wide-body order,' Kingfisher Airlines chief executive Vijay Mallya was quoted as saying by the publication of the International Air Transport Association, on the sidelines of IATA's annual meeting in Vancouver.Asked if the order would be made at the Paris Air Show, scheduled for June 18-24, Mallya said: 'I'll be doing that.'The CEO declined to say whether the private domestic company intended to place a new order for Airbus Industrie's future long-haul A350 aircraft, but explained it was 'looking for airplanes that can go non-stop from India to the East Coast of the USA.'Kingfisher already has ordered Airbus's A340-500s that can directly serve the US West Coast, hesaid.According to the report, Kingfisher may be leaning toward the larger A340-600 for its next order.'Kingfisher needs more wide-bodies for 2009/2010 partly because of the delay in the A380s,' Mallya said.In 2005 Kingfisher ordered 15 Airbus aircraft: five of the new superjumbo A380, five of the future A350and five A330s.Kingfisher Airlines is the only Indian airline customer for Airbus. Airbus has agreed to pay Kingfisher about 22 mln usd for a delay in delivering the five A380 superjumbo aircraft. Its A380 delivery is now expected in 2011.afp/mas
