A new study conducted by LogicaCMG has found that the mobile market is going to peak up in the next few months. The mobile market in Europe, North America, Asia Pacific and South America the will be worth over 7.6 billion euros by July 2006, the survey has predicted.
LogicaCMG surveyed 6,000 users in the areas mentioned above and found that it is boom time for downloads on the wireless devices. Content that is designed for the wireless devices is already in great demand and this demand will only scale new heights in the next year, 60 percent of wireless device owners will download content like ringtones, games, music, news, sports and video clips. Currently 20 percent of mobile users are into the downloading business.
LogicaCMG says that the mobile owners are set to top 2 billion in the next year and this means that the market for mobile content downloading will only get richer. It will soon become a multi-billion euro industry. An average user spends close to EUR6.32 a month on downloading mobile content. Europeans spend as much as EUR8.41 on downloads per month. The firm says that this figure is set to increase as 40 percent of the participants in their survey felt that it would do so.
Commenting on the findings of the survey, Paul Gleeson, the chief operating officer at LogicaCMG said that the survey proved that the mobile content market was substantial and provided great opportunities for mobile operators worldwide, "Mobile phone users are starting to experiment with their phones' capabilities but, drawing a parallel with the popular SMS experience, it is clear that the service needs to be simple, safe and intuitive from initial browsing through to payment and download." In fact the respondents in the survey said that their main concern was security and the mode of payment.
The results of the survey were released even as LogicaCMG is engaged in hosting a Content Management conference in London.
