TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - The value of orders for industrial machinery placed with Japanese companies in January was 17.9 pct higher than a year earlier at 379.9 bln yen, according to the results of a survey by the Japan Society of Industrial Machinery Manufacturers (JSIM).In December, orders for industrial machinery were 19.2 pct lower than a year before.The survey was conducted among 193 member-companies of the JSIM, including manufacturers of boilers and turbines, chemical machinery, plastic processing machinery, carrying implements and metal processing machinery.Orders from the domestic market reached 223.2 bln yen in January, up 5.1 pct, and orders from abroad amounted to 156.6 bln yen, up 42.7 pct.(1 usd = 120.90 yen)yumiko.nishitani@xfn.com
