La Jolla sees positive Riquent results |

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Biopharmaceutical company La Jolla Pharmaceutical Co., which focuses on antibody-mediated disease treatments, said Thursday its lupus drug candidate showed positive results in a late stage study.The Phase III clinical trial of Riquent, aimed at treating systemic lupus erythematosus, showed that the drug became more effective as the doses increased. Specifically, patients treated with the 900-milligram or 300-milligram dose once per week showed greater reductions in antibodies than patients treated with the 100-milligram dose or placebo.The study involved 101 patients and measured the amount of antibodies reduced by the drug.
