LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Department store chain Dillard's Inc. on Thursday said same-store sales -- a key gauge of a retailer's performance -- slid 9 percent in February.Same-store sales measure sales at stores open at least one year.In the four weeks ended March 3, Dillard's saw below-average sales of children's and men's apparel and weaker demand for decorative home merchandise. Stronger sales of lingerie and accessories, shoes and furniture tempered the declines elsewhere.Analysts had expected a more modest same-store sales decline of 1.2 percent, according to a Thomson Financial survey.Total sales fell 8 percent to $594.1 million from $644.3 million in the same four weeks a year ago.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
