Dow Jones April ad revenue drops |

NEW YORK (AP) - Financial news publisher Dow Jones & Co. said Tuesday advertising revenue at its flagship publication, The Wall Street Journal, fell 12.2 percent in April, hurt by lower volume and declining technology, financial and general advertising.Total ad volume at the Journal dropped 12.7 percent. Classified advertising volume rose 1.7 percent in the month.At the weekly Barron's publication, advertising revenue grew 45.5 percent on a 41.5 percent increase in advertising pages, helped by one additional issue in April versus the year before.International advertising climbed 19.7 percent due to a rise in financial advertising at the Wall Street Journal Asia and the Wall Street Journal Europe.Ad revenue at the Local Media Group, which operates community newspapers and other media outlets, fell 10.5 percent in the month.Dow Jones shares fell 50 cents to $55.01 in morning trading.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
