RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Network Appliance Inc., a supplier of network-attached storage systems, said Tuesday it will expand its operations in Research Triangle Park and add 646 jobs.The company will invest $41.5 million over the next 10 years and create jobs with average annual salaries of more than $94,000 a year, according to company officials and the governor's office.'These are the type of sustainable, skilled, well-paying jobs that will carry our economy forward,' Gov. Mike Easley said.State business recruiters approved at least $15.3 million in incentives for the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company.Under the proposal, Network Appliance must create the jobs during the next four years and sustain its payroll for another six years to receive the full package.Network Appliance provides data-storage services, hardware and software. It has operated in the Research Triangle Park area since 1999, and currently has more than 600 workers at its RTP facilities and 6,000 employees worldwide.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
