Ferrovial approaches Iberia to take handling operations - report

MADRID (Thomson Financial) - Grupo Ferrovial SA's handling unit Swissport is in talks to acquire Iberia Lineas Aereas de Espana SA's handling operations division, El Economista reported, citing unnamed sources involved in the negotiations.

The operation is not likely to take place until at least July, when Iberia' completes its minimum 2-year license imposed by Spanish airport authority Aena, the newspaper reported.

'There is still nothing closed, but there are many ways of sealing deals without needing to sell the division,' unnamed sources close to Iberia told El Economista.

Iberia, currently the target of various takeover bids, would increase its attractiveness to potential buyers by reducing its size, El Economista reported.
