UK smallcap opening - Alexon Group tops smallcap risers on FY pretax profit hope |

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Alexon Group PLC topped the small cap risers in early trade, as it said it sees full-year pretax profit not less than 12.5 mln stg on better-than-expected post-Christmas trading and strong gross margins.The company on Dec 6, 2007 said it expects full-year pretax profit of 11.5 mln stg to 12.5 mln stg.It will announce its preliminary results March 31.Meanwhile, Vyke Communications was lifted 9 pence to 92 pence as it said its total number of paid IP-based customer accounts increased by 29 pct to 1.3 mln in the fourth quarter, thanks to an accelerated growth rate towards the end of the year.The company said acquisition of new customer accounts continues at pace, adding it expects outstanding growth in 2008.tf.TFN-Europe_newsdesk@thomson.comhmb/salCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
