Enel's reported interest for Iberdrola is 'groundless' - spokeswoman

MILAN (AFX) - An Enel SpA spokeswoman said that an unsourced report today in the Italian daily Finanza & Mercati, claiming Enel is interested in the Spanish energy group Iberdrola SA, is 'groundless'.

The newspaper claims Enel is interested in Iberdrola but does not plan to launch a hostile bid.

Finanza & Mercati also said Enel has already set up credit lines to finance the operation.
