LISBON (AFX) - Merril Lynch owns 5.65 pct of Grupo Media Capital SGPS after buying 829,830 shares of the Portuguese media group, according to a filing with stock market regulator CMVM.Media Capital said the acquisition was made on Feb 5 and the US investment bank now holds a total of 4,775,665 shares.The same day, after the market's close, it was announced that Promotora de Informaciones, known as Prisa, controls 73.7 pct of Media Capital after its first bid.Prisa said it will launch a second bid for the 26.3 pct of Media Capital that it does not already own, at a price to be set by an independent auditor.At 12.09 pm, Media Capital shares were up 0.15 eur or 1.80 pct at 8.50 eur.luis.morais@thomson.comlm/anCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
