NEW YORK (AFX) - Regional airline Mesaba Aviation Inc., a subsidiary of MAIR Holdings Inc., said Friday its January traffic fell 68 percent on drops in capacity and occupancy.Mesaba recorded 38.7 million revenue passenger miles in January, down from 120.2 million in January 2006. A revenue passenger mile measures one paying passenger flying one mile.Mesaba Aviation's capacity, or available seat miles, fell 62 percent to 72.8 million in January from 191.2 million in the year-ago period. The airline carried 173.5 million passengers in the month, which was down 62 percent from 362.4 million in January 2006.Load factor, or occupancy, fell to 53.2 percent from 62.9 percent.MAIR shares closed down 11 cents at $7.07 on the Nasdaq.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
