LONDON (AFX) - Air traffic control manager NATS (En Route) PLC said it handled 172,975 flights in February, a 3.1 pct rise over 2006, adding that air traffic collectively grew 1.2 pct at the 15 UK airports where it provides services.It said London Area Control Centre at Swanwick, Hampshire saw a 3.3 pct rise bringing the number of flights to 139,840, while the London Terminal Control Centre at West Drayton showed a 2.5 pct growth to 101,025 flights.Strong traffic growth was seen at some regional airports, including a 26.5 pct growth at Farnborough and a 13.7 pct increase at Cardiff, the company said in a statement.The Scottish Area Control Centre at Prestwick reported a 1.6 pct increase to 44,436 flights and the Oceanic Area Control Centre, also located at Prestwick, recorded a 4.7 pct increase to 27,589 flights.NATS said the Transatlantic market continued to perform well with arrivals/departures showing growth of 7.2 pct, adding that the Non-transatlantic overflights showed a 20.7 pct increase with the largest growth between Ireland and Poland, Spain, Germany, France.newsdesk@afxnews.compmi/jagCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
